(Greenfield, MA) — A popular Greenfield Police service dog is recovering from emergency surgery. Officer “Donut” is a comfort dog for the Greenfield department. He became ill Monday and had to have emergency surgery for a bloat problem. He’s expected to make a full recovery according to his handler, Greenfield Deputy Police Chief Bill Gorden. Donut’s recovery is expected to prevent him from making a scheduled appearance at this weekend’s Franklin County Fair.
