(Greenfield, MA) Officer Laura Gordon has been on the job for about two weeks now in her new Community Policing position at the Greenfield Police Department. Gordon said she hopes to get Officer Donut back on the job as well, as he has been quarantining due to his high popularity and tendency to draw a crowd. Gordon also said she is talking to CSO, or Clinical Support Options, regarding how the two might respond together to a police call. This kind of policing, according to Gordon, is referred to as “Out of Car” police work due to the fact that so much of policing is spent in the cruiser. Gordon is also hoping to get some programs together involving children, and is working with the Greenfield Recreation Department to hopefully get something going later in the year. Working with the city’s unsheltered population is also going to be a part of Gordon’s job. Although the job is still new, she definitely thinks there will be challenges along the way that she will have to work out. For now, though, it is full steam ahead into her new role.
