SHELBURNE FALLS, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — Construction on the Shelburne Falls Bridge of Flowers was anticipated to begin this spring, reopening for the public in 2025, however with the one bid for the project coming in at $590,000 over the grant funds, it is unsure where the project will go from here. The bid is currently under review by the bridge owners, the Shelburne Falls Fire District, who received a $2.28 million state infrastructure grant to extend the life of the bridge and strengthen the public water system. The project initially brought in multiple interested contractors, although only one bid was submitted by the deadline from the Palmer-based Northern Construction Service LLC.
