BOSTON, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — The state’s Executive Office of Housing and Livable Communities is soliciting public input as regulations for Accessory Dwelling units, also called ADUs, are being drafted. The Office will host two webinars, the first occurring tomorrow, Tuesday, December 9th at 9 a.m.

Additionally, a second webinar will be held December 16th at 11 a.m. Then, a public comment period opens on December 20th and runs through January 10th. On the 10th, a hybrid public hearing will be held before the official regulations are released with the ADU law coming into effect on February 2nd.

The ADU regulations come after Governor Healey signed The Affordable Homes Act into law in August of this year, bringing approximately 50 housing policy initiatives with it to increase the housing stock and make homes more affordable.

Visit Mass.gov/ADU to read the draft regulations and a letter from Secretary Ed Augustus, Executive Office of Housing and Livable Communities.
