(Boston, MA) The Massachusetts Cultural Facilities Fund granted over $9.3 million in grants to nonprofits, colleges, and municipalities focused on arts, humanities, and sciences. MassDevelopment and the Mass Cultural Council jointly administer the grant program, which is funded through $10 million from the 2020 Fiscal Year Budget.

“These museums, performance venues, and other cultural institutions represent an important piece of Massachusetts’ economy,” said MassDevelopment President & CEO Lauren Liss.

Wistariahurst Museum in Holyoke received $110,000 in funds from the grant program. Other recipients include Huntington Theatre Company in Boston, Hopkinton Center for the Arts in Hopkinton, Narrows Center for the Arts in Fall River, and Greenagers in Great Barrington.

“These grants will boost jobs in the construction industry at a critical time of increased unemployment, while investing in the cultural sector which is critical to the vitality of Main Street businesses,” said Anita Walker, Executive Director at Mass Cultural Council.

MassDevelopment is the Massachusetts finance and development agency. In 2019, MassDevelopment managed 316 projects, resulting in an investment of over $2 billion in the Massachusetts economy.
