Board of Assessors Conducting Personal Property Revaluations
GREENFIELD – The Greenfield Board of Assessors will begin conducting personal property revaluations at the end of July. Real Estate Research Consultants, Inc, known as RRC, was selected by the City of Greenfield via a request for quotation process to assist in executing the revaluations.
RRC staff will begin connecting with Greenfield businesses on Tuesday, July 23. The staff will introduce themselves and offer a chance to schedule an appointment for revaluations if the business cannot participate at that time.
This project’s scope is comprehensive, including an interior inspection of all personal property accounts. This thorough process ensures that all taxable personal property items, such as inventory, furniture and fixtures, equipment and machinery used in the conduct of business, are accurately listed and assessed.
The Assessors Department must conduct revaluations every five years to ensure accurate property assessments. The department also connects with businesses via an annual form of list process. Both procedures are per Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 59, Section 29.
The Assessors Department encourages every personal property owner to participate in this process. An estimate will be made if a property is not inspected, resulting in a less reliable appraisal.
If you have any questions regarding personal property revaluations, please contact the Assessors Department at (413) 772-1506.
