(Athol, MA) – A pair of North Quabbin-area businesses are working together to help feed front-line medical workers.

Pete’s Tire Barn in Orange recently teamed up with Domino’s in Athol to feed the entire Heywood Healthcare staff. Pete’s management decided to purchase meals from Domino’s to the Heywood Healthcare staff, an act of charity which was very much appreciated by the recipients.

“It’s been one of the largest food thank you that we are receiving here,” said Selena Johnson Special Project Manager at Heywood Healthcare in a recent interview with Athol Orange Community Television’s Shining Lights. “To be able to link in a couple of systems is a wonderful, new way to come together and rally.”

Johnson also announced that CVS brought boxes of Easter candy to the staff and patients in the care facilities.

Heywood Health employs 1,200 people, and Johnson said getting food to all workers is very much a team effort.  large scale food distribution happen is a team effort. Johnson said that she is able to plan out how she is going to order the food from Domino’s, and make sure that the entire staff gets fed. Random drop offs, on the other hand, to the emergency departments are also appreciated. Coordination is key to receiving these donations.

“We make it work,” said Johnson. “We make sure everyone has the opportunity to be connected and feel supported.”

For any other restaurant in the Athol area that may be interested in partnering, Heywood is asking for donations of gift cards for healthcare workers, which would benefit both the workers and restaurants looking to stay in business during the pandemic.  Anyone interested in taking part can visit the Heywood Health Website or call (978) -632-3420.
