(Greenfield, MA) The Greenfield Department of Public Works will begin the second phase of the West Street reconstruction on Tuesday, May 31st.

The project includes replacing the 104 year-old water main, upgrading the sewer and drainage systems, and repaving the section of the street between Conway and Elm Streets. The cost of the project totals $778,542 between the two phases and should be completed by December of this year.

Funding for the project comes from the Community Development Block Grant program ($572,000) and the City’s Water and Sewer Enterprise Funds ($206,542).

“This is yet another project where we’re completely reconstructing a heavily populated stretch of street,” said DPW Director Marlo Warner. “I want to thank the Mayor for prioritizing critical infrastructure upgrades that improve the quality of our residential neighborhoods.”
