(Northfield, MA) — Sixth grade students in Northfield and Bernardston won’t be moving to Pioneer Regional School just yet. The Pioneer School Committee has notified the commonwealth that financial conditions will not allow the district to meet the state Department of Elementary and Secondary Education requirement to transition sixth grade students to Pioneer by fall of 2022. The move was largely motivated by overcrowding concerns at the district’s elementary school buildings.
