ATHOL, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — A porch caught fire at a home on Lombard Avenue in Athol Monday.
The Athol Fire Department responded and found heavy smoke coming from the rear of the home. The fire had extended minimally into the interior. Swift action by the firefighters extinguished the fire before more damage could occur.
The homeowner and pet cat were safe and uninjured.
Athol Police, along with Fire Departments from Orange, Royalston, Phillipston, and Barre all provided assistance.
