(Greenfield, MA) Tonight, Tuesday, May 10th at 6 p.m. there will be a joint public hearing with the Planning Board and City Council’s Executive Development Committee on the matter of outdoor marijuana cultivation facilities.

The purpose of the hearing is to consider a petition for a zoning change that would provide margins of protection for residential neighborhoods from marijuana cultivation facilities and a moratorium on all special permits for marijuana cultivation facilities to allow further time for the City to look into the matter.

Residents in the area have been vocal about their concerns on a potential marijuana growth site on Country Club Road in Greenfield. Some of the concerns they have involve the size of facilities, the smell from growth, and new traffic in residential areas.
