(Deerfield, MA) The Deerfield Town Meeting has been moved to Monday, June 1. The meeting will be held outdoors at the track at 6pm due to the ongoing threat of COVID-19. For more information visit the Deerfield town website or click here.
”This year we will gather on the Frontier Football Field, an open-air environment with plenty of room to spread out. Plans are in place to make this a safe and memorable town meeting that encourages community involvement in our local democratic process,” said Detective Sergeant Adam Sokoloski.
Among the issues to be decided include elected town officials compensation, budget allocations to the Deerfield Elementary School and Frontier Regional, mobile data terminals for police cruisers and data migration for the Police Department. Over $1million in funds from the Community Preservation Fund is requested for the development of recreational fields and a concert venue. To view the agenda in its entirety click here.
There are some logistics for the open air meeting. Everyone should plan on wearing a mask and park at the Deerfield Elementary School or the Frontier Parking Lots. Gulf cart shuttles will provide transportation for anyone who has limited mobility. Check in for registered voters will be at 5pm at the entrance to the Frontier Football Field. While chairs will be available, residents are encouraged to bring their own comfortable lawn chairs.
