SUNDERLAND, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — On Saturday evening, the Sunderland Fire Department made a successful rescue of a lost hiker on the Mount Toby Reservation with the indispensable assistance of rescue K-9s Ranger and Maze, along with their Humvee Utility vehicle, UTV, and ATV.
The department was dispatched at approximately 6:20 p.m. to a location from the individual’s cellphone, however K9 Maze directed the team away from the cellphone location and successfully found the hiker in under 20 minutes after traveling approximately one mile.
The Sunderland Fire Department issued a reminder to the public, that if lost in the woods, individuals should call 911 and remain in one spot so they may help you get out safely.
