Rotting Beams Causes Trail Bridge Closure In Northfield

(Northfield, MA) The bridge on School Street in Northfield will be closed until repairs can be made on the rotted beams underneath the bridge. The town has received a grant through the MassDOT Small Bridge Program for the engineering work on the project, however the town is still determining what funds can be used for the repairs themselves. The bridge connects two trails, however even pedestrian use of the bridge presents a liability concern for the town.
