Route 5 Reopened After Vehicle Fire

(Bernardston, MA) Update: Sunday morning the Bernardston Fire Department responded to a reported vehicle fire that was threatening a structure at 915 Brattleboro Road in Bernardston. When units arrived on scene they found two vehicles on fire within feet of the residence.

Guilford, Vermont Fire provided assistance with a tanker and the crews were able to extinguish the fire, limiting damage to the building. Northfield Fire provided coverage for the Bernardston station and Northfield EMS responded to a medical call in Bernardston while crews battled the fire.

Route 5 in Bernardston has been reopened after area fire departments worked to put out vehicle fires. According to the Bernardston Fire Department, there were vehicles fires threatening a structure on Brattleboro Road near the Vermont Border and Bernardston Police had temporarily closed the road to through traffic. Guilford and Northfield provided assistance, for on scene and station coverage respectively.
