(Massachusetts) A safety plan is already in place for the days following election day. Massachusetts State Police as well as the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security, or EOPSS, are monitoring intelligence and are prepared to protect safety and the rights of all citizens, according to State Police Colonel Christopher Mason. EOPSS Secretary Thomas Turco said there is no credible threat to public safety in Massachusetts at this time, but additional resources have been made available for local leaders should the need arise.

Massachusetts State Police Director of Media Communications Dave Procopio said the Watch Center and Homeland Security Operations Center will monitor developing incidents and intelligence through the election and beyond.

“We are deploying enhanced staffing prior to Election Day, on Election Day, and on the days that follow to ensure safety and security at the locations for which we have primary jurisdiction,” said Procopio.

Governor Charlie Baker has activated 1,000 members of the National Guard to assist local officials, maintain public safety, and to protect opportunities to use First Amendment Rights during large events.

“There is no indication of any public safety risk in Massachusetts,” said Turco. “Just as the Administration does for all major events, we have made additional resources available should local leaders request them.”
