(Greenfield, MA) *UPDATE* Thursday, June 2nd begins construction with the contractor in the area of 48 Sanderson Street in Greenfield, working East towards High Street. The Greenfield Department of Public Works released information for residents traveling through this area:
For the Greenfield Middle School: North Street will be open and Sanderson Street from North Street to Federal Street will also be open. Regular drop off and pick up can resume for the school.
20 Sanderson Street: Employees and visitors can travel in and out from Federal Street or North Street.
Kennemetal: Employees and visitors can come through North Street.
48 Sanderson Street: Will operate same as Wednesday, June 1st, access the building through the North Street entrance and exit only.
Baystate Franklin Medical Center: Will also operate same as Wednesday, June 1st, ambulances can enter through existing entrance and employees/visitors/patients can enter and exit through High Street. Employee parking can be accessed through the current Emergency Department entrance and exit. Cones will be set up to delineate the lanes from High Street to the Emergency Department entrance.

Greenfield DPW begins $1.8 million Sanderson Street reconstruction on Friday, May 13. The work area on Sanderson Street will be open to one lane of traffic and have periodic closures from 7 am to 3:30 pm. This project will include replacing a 104-year-old water main, upgrading sewer lines, drainage system and sidewalks in addition to entirely repaving Sanderson Street.
This project will be completed in two phases, the first covers High Street to Federal Street and is expected to be completed by fall. Construction will not reach the Greenfield Middle School under the academic year has ended on June 16th. The second phase covers High Street to Parkway Street and will begin after the completion of phase one.
