(Franklin County, MA) *Update* Some highlights from The People’s Town Hall include:
Senator Jo Comerford addressed constituents at a virtual town hall on Wednesday night. Before taking questions from attendees, she offered a summary of her work in the Senate, where she serves as chair of the joint committees on Public Health and COVID-19 Emergency Preparedness. Comerford has seen hundreds of bills in this legislative session in her work on various other committees too.
The state Senator said the Senate voting to pass the The Work and Family Mobility Act was one of her top achievements over the last year. The law, which would give undocumented immigrants a way to acquire a legal driver’s license, passed with a veto-proof majority in the House and Senate, and awaits the governor’s decision to send it back to the legislators or sign the bill into law.
Comerford told constituents that she wants to see remote access to public meetings continue past the pandemic-era emergency. The bill, An Act Modernizing Participation in Public Meetings., would cement that right into state law.
