(Greenfield, MA) Update from the Greenfield Police Department at 4:20 p.m. Monday:

Around 1:15 p.m. Monday, July 25th, a black Honda Accord, possibly with New York license plates, showed up at a residence on Forbes Court in Greenfield. A male yelled and knocked on the front door of the residence, with no response from the residents inside, the male fired at least four shots into the front door from what is believed to be a 9mm pistol. Then, walked back to the vehicle and fired at least eight more rounds into the residence. Afterwards, he entered his vehicle and fled the scene.

Greenfield officers Kratz and Johansson, observed a vehicle matching the description traveling at high speed going southbound on Elm Street and then onto the Mohawk Trail, where they lost sight of the vehicle. Detective Purinton was on River Street when he observed the vehicle speeding down the road, however officers were unable to catch the vehicle before it left Greenfield. Deerfield Police Chief Paciorek was able to locate the vehicle in Deerfield and pursued it, until losing sight of it on Deerfield back roads.

The vehicle is believed to have been last seen on Bay Road in Amherst. All Franklin County Police Departments were issued bulletins, including Massachusetts State Police. The incident is under investigation by the Greenfield Police Department with the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit, Massachusetts State Crime Scene Services, and Massachusetts State Police Ballistics.

This is the third active shooting event in Greenfield in just over a month.

There has been a shooting at Forbes Court in Greenfield at approximately 1:20 p.m. Monday. Greenfield Police are on scene investigating the incident. There are reports of an involved vehicle being pursued in Deerfield and Hampshire County units are also searching for the vehicle as of 1:45 p.m. This is a breaking story and will be updated when new information is available.
