(Shutesbury, MA) Shutesbury’s Conservation Commission Chair, Miriam DeFant, has resigned after writing a ten page letter describing alleged personal attacks and interference from officials in Town Hall. In Defant’s letter entitled “Don’t Drain The Swamp!” she describes concerns with wetlands issues in town throughout her tenure is town government. The Select Board has responded to say they do not agree with representations in the letter and accepted DeFant’s resignation at Thursday’s Select Board meeting.
