SHUTESBURY, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — A groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a new public library in Shutesbury is planned for August 2nd at 10 am at the future site of the library, at 66 Leverett Road. The library is expected to open in fall of 2025, replacing the 122 year old MN Spear Memorial Library, which currently has no running water.

The Shutesbury select board has signed a $6.39 million contract with Construction Dynamics of Clinton, Mass. and the total project is estimated to cost $8.98 million, including the costs beyond construction.
