SOUTH DEERFIELD, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — Two individuals were injured and Greenfield Road in South Deerfield was closed for an hour Tuesday morning after a head-on crash.
Deerfield Police told Franklin County Now that a 25-year-old Turners Falls man was driving a Subaru sedan southbound on Routes 5&10 shortly before 7:00 a.m. when the vehicle veered into the northbound lane and collided head-on with a Jeep Liberty driven by a 23-year-old woman from Chesterfield.
The driver of the Subaru was transported by South County EMS to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield with severe traumatic injuries in both legs.
The other driver was taken to Cooley-Dickinson Hospital in Northampton by AMR Ambulance with minor injuries.
Greenfield Road was closed between North Main Street, Mill Village Road, and Conway Road (Route 116) by the South Deerfield Fire Department. The road was re-opened shortly after 8:00.
The accident is under investigation by Deerfield Police.
