GREENFIELD, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — Greenfield City Council is preparing to set the tax rate with discussions on a split tax rate, which was voted down last November.

A split tax rate would ease residential property owners’ tax burden amid rising property values, while commercial and industrial properties would carry more of the city’s tax levy burden.

On August 20th a joint meeting will be held with the Ways and Means Committee and the Board of Assessors to discuss the options of a split tax rate.
