LEVERETT, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — Last Thursday, the Leverett Fire Department responded to a suspected chimney fire in a home where the chimney had not been cleaned for the entire owner’s tenure.
Quick action by the department to check for potential fire spread in the attic and walls around the chimney, kept the fire from spreading to the home.
Acting Leverett Fire Chief Amy Rice, said the event serves as a reminder to have regular heating system and chimney servicing.
