(Boston, MA) The State Seal Commission panel tasked with making recommendations for changes to the Massachusetts state seal and motto has been working for three years and their recent report shows little progress. Jim Peters, of the Mashpee Tribe and executive director of the state Indian Affairs Commission said the initial push, which his father led, was about altering the sword featured over the Native’s head on the seal. State Administration Committee Senator Nick Collins said the committee got off path, and now the commission is disbanding with the unfinished work shifting to the Secretary of State William Galvin’s office.
