GREENFIELD, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — The cleanup is underway after last night’s severe thunderstorms.

Crews have been working since last night on clearing roads that were blocked by downed trees and wires, and those efforts continue today.

In Greenfield, the city’s police, fire, dispatch, and DPW managed over 100 service calls since the storm hit, with calls still coming in Wednesday morning. More tree limbs and wires may come down today, and in a social media post, the police said to stay away from any downed wires, and report those by calling dispatch at 413-773-5411.

Power outages remain in several parts of Franklin County, particularly in the northern part of Greenfield, Gill, Northfield, and Whately. In most cases, Eversource is saying power will be restored no later than 6:00 this evening.

National Grid reported about 5,000 customers without power at of 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, primarily in the North Quabbin region and the Leverett and Shutesbury area.
