NORTHFIELD, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — A fire at 83 Main Street Northfield Wednesday morning is believed to have been caused by the sun being magnified through glass and catching dead, dry flowers on fire. This phenomenon is what’s known as the prism effect, magnifying the sun’s rays enough to ignite flammable objects.
