(Sunderland, MA) A black bear (sow) and her cub have been spotted in Sunderland this morning crossing Silver Lane. The Sunderland Police Department is warning residents to please stay in theirs cars and not get out to take photos, as the sow is nearby and will protect her cub. The Mass Audubon Society has information regarding black bears on their website, which does mention how conflict between black bears and humans are becoming more common as people encroach on the bear’s habitat.
