GREENFIELD, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — Greenfield’s Annual Triathlon was held this Sunday, August 3rd for its 41st time with the motto “To Finish Is To Win.”
Due to weather conditions, the swim portion of the three part race was unable to be held last year and it is making a comeback this year with clear water testing.
A Chicopee man, Garret Theberge, was the overall winner in the Sprint division. Leah Gump of Conway was the top finisher in the women’s Sprint division and it was her first time competing in this triathlon. And the International Race was led by Tomas Restrepo Velasquez of Marlborough.
The top Male, Female, and Non-Binary finishers in the Sprint and International Race events are awarded a cribbage board crafted by Rick Roy of Pioneer Valley Wood Art carved from local Maple wood with graphics by Amy Schmidt Bowse, both longtime volunteers and awardees of the Nook Burnish Award for their efforts and support of the annual triathlon.
