GREENFIELD, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — The Greenfield Recreation Department is preparing to open the Green River Swimming and Recreation area for the season. The park will open for the summer on the weekend of June 1.
The park will have new amenities on site for people to enjoy. The Recreation Department, through funding from the Community Preservation Committee, purchased two sets of concrete Corn Hole boards and a concrete Ping Pong table. During park hours, park patrons will be able to borrow corn hole bags and ping pong paddles.
The swimming area has been beset by difficulties over the past few summers, with a significant drought two years ago and a series of storms last summer resulting in extended periods where the river was closed for swimming.
