(Boston, MA) Monday, June 1 will be the day all flavored combustible cigarettes, menthol cigarettes, and flavored chewing tobacco will be sold on a restricted basis at licensed smoking bars for on site consumption only. On this date, the 75% excise tax on all nicotine vaping products will also take effect in the State of Massachusetts. The ban was signed into law late 2019, before the COVID-19 crisis hit. Critics argue the ban will force smokers to travel across state lines at a time when Governor Charlie Baker has asked anyone traveling out of state to quarantine for 14 days.
