(TURNERS FALLS) — The Turners Falls Airport is looking to secure a short-term loan from the town of Montague as part of an expansion project. Airport Manager Bryan Camden said the plan is to use the $45,000 loan to have the facility become completely financially independent from the town.

“I know it seems like a lot, but in eight years we’ve come quite a long way,” said Camden. “If you go back three years, we were running a $14,000 a year deficit at the airport, so with a little time and a little effort I have zero concerns about bridging the gap between revenues and expenditures.”

The proposal needs approval from Town Meeting, which will likely take up the matter sometime this winter.
