ORANGE, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — This Saturday the Millers River Challenge will return for its 12th run in Orange. The annual event raises money for the Orange Fireman’s Relief Association, the Northfield Dive Team, and the Orange Lions Club.
There are three divisions; a Pro Race that runs eight miles, a High School Cup which is approximately three miles and a Youth Race, which is about one mile.
The race began fifteen years ago, although it took a few years off during the pandemic. It began after an 11 year old girl from Orange drowned in the river and the Northfield Dive Team along with other public safety departments spent days searching the river for her.
