ORANGE, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) —  A 30 foot camper was deemed a total loss after firefighters worked to contain the fire that engulfed it and nearly took two other campers nearby. Reports of the camper on fire at 262 Packard Road in Orange came in Sunday evening at approximately 11:25 p.m. and as it was outside of the town’s hydrant district, crews responded with Engines 1, 2, 3, and Tender 4, which is a 3,000 gallon tanker.

The firefighters immediately set to work containing the fire to prevent it from spreading to two other campers in the area, using 2,250 gallons of water in the process. There were no injuries, as no one was inside the camper at the time of the fire, but the camper was deemed a total loss. The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the Orange Fire Department.

The water used by the three engines was replaced from Tully Pond and units were back in service by approximately 2 a.m. Monday morning.
