(Orange, MA) The Orange Fire Department has announced the purchase of a new truck that will allow access to fires not readily accessible with larger trucks. The old 1985 Chevrolet pick up that was being used suffered a catastrophic failure that rendered the vehicle inoperable. The new truck will allow access to brush fires and illegal burns in the area. The truck was purchased with the assistance with the Assistance to Firefighters Grant program or AFG. The taxpayers of Orange are responsible for $7,500 of the purchase price and the rest is covered by the grant. The truck is being built in Canada and will be delivered sometime this month.
