(Greenfield, MA) – Greenfield Firefighters spent part of Tuesday honing their rescue skills. On duty firefighters drilled using vehicle extraction equipment and airbags that are meant to assist firefighters in rescuing a pinned patient after an accident. A refresher on the use of the “Jaws-Of-Life” was also included as part of the training.
“This mixed in a bit of fun while increasing their fine motor skills operating the tools. During an emergency we can be required to make very precise movements with the tools to avoid causing further injury to occupants,” said the department in a social media post.
The department typically trains on two different skills per day at times when they aren’t otherwise on the scene of a fire or some other type of emergency call.
