TURNERS FALLS, MA (FRANKLINCOUNTYNOW) — No injuries were reported but several residents were displaced by a three-alarm fire in Turners Falls Sunday night. Crews were called to the scene at a three-story apartment building on G Street at approximately 10:37 p.m. Sunday, according to the Turners Falls Fire Department.
Upon arrival, crews found heavy fire on the third floor. It took firefighters about 30 minutes to get the blaze under control, although mutual aid was called in from several area departments to fully extinguish the flames and hot spots. Crews from Deerfield, South Deerfield, Greenfield, Erving, Orange, Athol, Gill, Montague Center, Northfield, Bernardston, Amherst, Shutesbury, Sunderland, and Brattleboro, Vermont, assisted Turners Falls firefighters.
The third floor of the building sustained heavy fire and water damage. All residents were able to leave the building safely. Those residents are being assisted by the American Red Cross. The cause of the fire is under investigation, according to Turners Falls Fire.
