DEERFIELD, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — Two brush fires emerged on Friday, and with the current drought conditions, these are only the beginning as we head into warmer weather.
The fires occurred on Upper Road in Deerfield and the other on Flagg Road in Orange, both reported in the 1 p.m. hour and brought under control without reported injuries.
According to the state’s Drought Management Task Force, the Connecticut River Valley is in a Level 3 Critical Drought as of February 1st. There are a total of 5 levels of drought categorization, from Level 0 Normal to Level 4 Emergency Drought.
