NEW SALEM, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — A vehicle caught fire on Daniel Shays Highway at Shutesbury Road in New Salem, temporarily closing Route 202 Sunday. The vehicle reportedly went over the embankment on the side of the road and subsequently caught fire. All occupants were able to extricate from the vehicle with no major injuries.
This was one of two accidents occurring along this stretch of roadway on Sunday.
