NEW SALEM, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — Two Gardner residents died in a three-vehicle collision on Route 202 in New Salem on Friday, according to the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office. The two residents, aged 89 and 74, were the driver and passenger in one of the vehicles
Several others were injured and transported to Athol Memorial Hospital, with the driver of one of the vehicles transported by helicopter to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester. State Police detectives for the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office and those from the Crime Scene Services Section and the Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section are investigating the crash.
Route 202 was temporarily closed for the accident between Prescott Road in Shutesbury and New Salem.
