(Orange, MA) Just before 1 p.m. on Saturday, a two-alarm structure fire broke out at 36 Summit Street in Orange in which one firefighter sustained minor injuries. All occupants of the building were accounted for without injury, although two families are displaced after the building was deemed a “total loss.”

Orange firefighters, on and off duty, were called to the scene and found heavy smoke and fire coming from the interior and exterior of the two and a half story building, a new construction, wood-frame duplex. Part of the roof collapsed shortly after Chief Young pulled crews who had gone inside for search and suppression efforts.

Multiple mutual aid agencies provided assistance and station coverage. The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the Orange Fire Department and the Massachusetts Department of Fire Services.
