(Amherst, MA) — UMass officials say they are monitoring what appears to be a spike in COVID 19 cases, mostly among students who live off campus. An email sent to the university community reported an increase in positive cases mostly among vaccinated off-campus students. Those infected experienced a short period of illness that did not require hospitalization. The increase in COVID cases has forced the cancellation of a number of pre-football game activities scheduled Saturday in lot 11 near McGuirk Alumni Stadium.
