(Amherst, MA) — An investigation is underway regarding allegedly racist emails sent to African-American students on the UMass-Amherst campus. University officials say a racist message was sent to African American groups on campus suggesting that they should “consider doing the human race a favor and getting sterilized.” UMass officials have hired a private cyber security firm to try and determine the source of the message. UMass President Marty Meehan says the messages “in no way reflect the true character of the UMass community and we have zero tolerance for such behavior.”
