AMHERST, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — UMass Amherst Chancellor Javier Reyes announced last week that the university has launched an early college pilot program that gives high school students opportunities to earn college credits for free.

Five local high schools will be participating in the pilot program which is designed to encourage economically disadvantaged and underrepresented students to enroll in higher education by giving these students the experience and a jump start on their college credits.
