(Combined Sources) UMASS administration and the two labor unions on campus continue to negotiate how the university can save money. 450 workers were about to be laid off but the two sides have started to explore other cost saving measures to avoid the employee reduction. An agreement is currently in place that states there will be no layoffs until January. The unions continue to look for ways to restore 150 workers who have been placed on long term furloughs.
