AMHERST, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — A new poll out of UMass Amherst and WCVB has found evidence that US Senator Ed Markey will be difficult to challenge in the primaries as Markey holds his highest popularity ratings this past year.
Representative Seth Moulton and former teacher Alex Rikleen have already stepped up to the plate for the 2026 race, although Markey currently holds a significant 20-point lead against them in the polls.
The poll did isolate one concern voters have when it comes to supporting Markey, and it comes down to his age. If reelected, MArkey would be 80 years old when taking his oath.
