(Amherst, MA) 57 UMass students were arrested in October for not leaving the Whitmore Administration Building during a pro-Palestinian sit-in protest, some of them appeared in court Thursday. 21 students are facing trial for criminal trespassing charges after demanding the Chancellor condemn the war in Gaza in October. The university made a statement saying that while the school is committed to supporting free speech, these students were arrested for refusing to comply with an order to leave the Whitmore Building after it closed.
