AMHERST, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — UMass Amherst has received a nearly $5 million five-year grant to study the accumulation of PFAS, known as “forever chemicals,” in human tissue and whether it increases the risk of bone loss and fractures. Several animal studies have already indicated this to be the case and this study would bridge the gap between theories, animal studies, and now human study.
