UMass To Lay Off Six Percent Of Its Workforce To Balance Budget

(Amherst, MA) — Major layoffs are on the way to UMass Amherst. The university has announced that it will layoff six percent of its workforce in order to help close a $264 million dollar budget gap triggered in large part by the COVID 19 pandemic. The university’s board of trustees has also voted to freeze tuition rates for the coming year.
