AMHERST, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — UMass Amherst Chancellor Javier Reyes announced the university is forming a Campus Demonstration Policy Task Force and independent review of the police activity following demonstrations this spring leading to over 130 arrests on campus, sparking criticism of the Chancellor Reyes. The task force will include sixteen members and will review protest policies and demonstration intervention policies, as well as recommending ways to increase awareness of the policies and First Amendment protections.
